About Us

KaylalaOur company started with the goal of creating skincare products without any chemicals or irresponsible ingredients. Armed with some Emu oil (rich in Omega 3,6 & 9 essential fatty acids) from our own family farm of free-range Emus and a block of local pesticide-free beeswax, we began experimenting with formulas & techniques to create our ideal skincare line. After 3 years of trial & error, we had a line of products that we trusted with the care of our own skin & our childrens’.

Yummy enough to eat, our products nourish your skin without poisoning your body or the environment. We firmly believe that if you can’t eat it, you shouldn’t put it on YOUR SKIN! We also package our products primarily in recyclable/reusable glass and aluminum, not just for sake of the environment, but also because plastics can leach phthalates and other plasticizers into skin care products and into your skin, disrupting the endocrine system -- not so yummy, eh? At Kaylala, we are fastidious about all aspects of skin care, whether it's the ingredients and how they were farmed, the packaging and how it reacts with the product, or even the aromatherapy effect on your mood from the natural fragrance of the essential oils.

Kaylala is owned by sisters Alison Brown Hjembo & Heather Brown Dodge, and Heather's husband Graham Dodge. All three are from Maryland, where they were raised on farms & the values of sustainable living. Heather & Graham spent 10 years in Los Angeles, CA where Heather was an actress & singer, and Graham was a television Art Director. Alison owned a sewing business & traveled the world. The family venture into natural skin care began during the pregnancy of Heather & Graham's first baby, when chemical-free living became a priority. This focus remains as both sisters' new families continue to grow.
